ACCT 226

Introduction to Managerial Accounting

Sections 302, 303, and 304

Important Information – Please Read Carefully

Course Description:

ACCT 226 – Sections 302, 303, and 304 are “blended” classes that require a combination of classroom attendance and viewing lectures via videostreaming.  Students will be required to attend class four times during the semester; the first time to obtain detailed instructions about the course and three times to take exams (see schedule below).   A “live” section of ACCT 226 will be recorded and videostreamed on the Web.  Students enrolled in Sections 302, 303, and 304 will view these lectures on the Web rather than attending a live class.  Each section will be assigned an experienced teaching assistant who will be available to assist students during posted office hours.  Students will meet their teaching assistant the first day of class and this person will be the direct contact point for the remainder of the semester.  All emails and questions should be directed to the teaching assistant.

Internet and Software Requirements:

To view the videostreamed lectures on the Web, students must have a broadband or high-speed internet connection such as DSL, a corporate LAN, or a cable modem.  You must also have the latest version of Windows Media Player software installed on your computer.  Windows Media Player is free via download.  Also to ensure successful viewing, it is recommended that your Web browser software be up to date.  The latest version of Internet Explorer can be downloaded for Windows or Macintosh.

Required Classroom Attendance:

January 15– First Day of Class (7:00PM – 8:15PM)

February 19 – Test 1  (7:00PM – 8:15PM)

April 1 – Test 2    (7:00PM – 8:15PM)

Final Exam – TBA (per University Final Exam Schedule)

Students should not enroll in these sections unless they will be able to attend class on the above dates.

Note:

Blended classes are not for everyone!  Only students who are self-disciplined to view the lectures promptly and complete the homework assignments with limited interaction with the teaching assistant should enroll in these sections.  However, students enrolled in these sections will view the same class lecture and have the same access to assistance as those students attending live sections.
